Workflow Spotlight on

Judge.me

Learn how Grapevine Surveys and Judge.me work together to help you understand why customers leave certain reviews — and what to do next.

Meet Judge.me

Not that they need much of an introduction…

With over 500,000 merchants using the app, Judge.me is one of the most trusted review platforms on Shopify. But it’s not just the numbers that make them stand out. It’s their philosophy. Judge.me was built on the belief that every merchant, big or small, should have access to the best review tools. While other apps increase pricing as your store grows, Judge.me keeps things refreshingly simple. Two plans, one flat price, no hidden fees.

They know they could charge more. Most review apps do. But instead, they focus on delivering real value through constant innovation, thoughtful features, and a serious commitment to security and compliance. From AI-powered review summaries to multi-language support, Judge.me helps merchants collect, manage, and display reviews with ease. The result is a powerful, affordable review solution that works for stores of all sizes.

If you value fairness, quality, and a team that genuinely cares about what they build, Judge.me is an easy recommendation.

The Challenge

Reviews are one of the most valuable signals a store can collect.

They build trust, drive conversions, and give customers a chance to share honest feedback. For many merchants, reviews are the foundation of social proof, helping new customers feel confident in their purchase.

Judge.me makes it easy to collect and display reviews at scale. With features like automated requests, photo uploads, and verified badges, it has never been easier to gather this kind of feedback.

But while reviews are powerful, they can also be limited.

A star rating shows how someone felt, but not always why. A short comment might highlight a feature, but it rarely gives the full picture.

If you could learn more about what customers loved, what nearly stopped them from buying, or what left them disappointed, you would be in a much stronger position to improve and grow.

The Solution

When a customer leaves a review, they’re already engaged.

They’ve taken the time to share feedback, which means they’re open, thoughtful, and willing to tell you what they think. It’s the perfect moment to learn more.

By following up with a targeted survey, you can build on that engagement and ask a few simple questions to uncover the context behind the review.

What made them happy?
What could have been better?
What nearly stopped them from buying?

Grapevine makes this easy with on-site surveys that can be tailored to the score the customer gave. Whether it’s a 5-star fan or a 2-star concern, you can ask the right follow-up questions and start to build a clearer picture of your business performance.

This is your chance to go beyond the stars. Strengthen the relationship, learn more about your customers, and use that insight to improve your product, marketing, and experience.

A review is just the starting point. When you follow up with the right questions, you turn a simple rating into real insight — and that’s where the real value lies.

1. Setup Judge.me Reviews

Start by setting up Judge.me to collect product reviews after purchase. Use the automatic email or SMS request feature to prompt customers to leave a review once their order has arrived.

2. Create a Shopify Flow to respond to new reviews

Set up a workflow in Shopify Flow using Judge.me’s “New Review Received” trigger. Add a condition based on the review score so you can tailor your response depending on whether the feedback is positive, neutral, or negative.

Then add an action to send an email inviting the customer to complete a short survey. You can use your own email provider if it connects with Flow, or use Shopify Email to send the message with a link to the survey.

3. Create your surveys in Grapevine

We recommend starting with two surveys based on if the score is above a 4 or below a 3.

Here's some question ideas:
What did you love most about your purchase?
Was there anything that nearly stopped you from buying?
How would you describe our brand to a friend?
What could we have done to make things better?
Was there anything unclear or confusing during your experience?

4. Send follow-up emails with links to your surveys

Depending on the email platform you use, you can set the action in your Shopify Flow to send the follow-up email through your chosen provider. This could be Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or any other service that integrates with Flow.

If you prefer, you can use Shopify Email and create custom templates for the follow-up message.

How to setup this integration

How can this data be used?

Turn feedback into action.

Once you start collecting survey responses alongside your reviews, you’ll have a much deeper understanding of what your customers are thinking. Here’s how you can use that insight:

Low Score Insights

  • Spot recurring issues with packaging, product fit, or delivery
  • Identify gaps or confusion in your website or product descriptions
  • Follow up directly to make things right and retain the customer
  • Feed insights back into product or support teams for improvement

High Score Insights

  • Discover what customers love most — perfect for testimonials, product copy, or ad messaging
  • Learn which value propositions actually resonate
  • Invite satisfied customers into referral, loyalty, or affiliate programs

You’re no longer just collecting feedback — you’re building a system that helps you improve and grow with every review.

Start turning reviews into insights

Judge.me helps you collect reviews that build trust.
Grapevine helps you ask the right follow-up questions to learn more.

Together, you get the full picture — not just what customers think, but why they feel that way, and what you can do about it.

Set up your first post-review survey in just a few steps.
If you need help, we’re happy to guide you through the Flow setup, suggest questions, or share templates.
