Reward customers with Growave points for completing surveys

Learn how Grapevine Surveys and Growave work together to reward customers with loyalty points when they share feedback, and build richer customer profiles while you're at it. All powered by Shopify Flow.

Growave 🤝 Grapevine Surveys

Growave is a loyalty and rewards platform for Shopify brands, and it plugs straight into Grapevine Surveys. Customers who finish a survey get points in their Growave account automatically, so more of them answer and you learn more about every one. It all runs in the background, with no manual work and nobody remembering to hand out points on a Friday afternoon.

The Workflow Objective:

Build a proper profile of every loyalty member by rewarding them with Growave points the moment they complete a survey.

The Challenge

Your order data tells you what someone bought. It doesn't tell you who they are, how they live or how they like to shop.

So every member gets the same email. The dry-skin customer with a five-step routine and the oily-skin customer who just wants a cleanser both get the same “new in” blast. And asking them to fill in a survey with nothing in return? Easy to ignore.

The Solution

Give customers a reason to answer: Growave points, credited the moment they hit submit.

Grapevine asks a few quick profile questions after checkout. Shopify Flow spots the completed survey and flags the customer. Growave sees the flag and adds the points. Every answer can also land on the customer's profile in Klaviyo, ready to segment. No manual work, and nothing slowing down checkout.

What to ask: beauty brand edition

Take a skincare brand. Order data says a customer bought a cleanser. Four quick questions tell you their skin type, what they're trying to fix, how much effort they put in and when they'll run out. Now every email, recommendation and reward can actually suit them.

Skin Type

How would you describe your skin? Dry, Oily, Combination, Normal, Sensitive

Recommend the right formulas. No more mattifying gel emails to someone with dry skin.

Skin goal

What's your main skin goal right now? More hydration, Fewer breakouts, Smooth fine lines, Even out tone, Calm redness

Lead every launch and email with the thing they're trying to fix.

Routine

How many steps are in your skincare routine? Just the basics (1-2), A few (3-4), The full works (5+)

Send starter kits and multi-taskers to the basics crowd, serums and add-ons to the full-works fans.

Usage

How long does a moisturiser usually last you? Under a month, 1-2 months, 3 months or more

Time restock reminders, and a points nudge, for just before they run out.

To do in Grapevine

Start by creating a survey in Grapevine using single or multiple choice questions to capture customer preferences in a structured format.

Make a note of your survey code which you will use in the Shopify Flow workflow

To do in Shopify

First, create a customer metafield to flag who's completed the survey. Go to Settings > Metafields and metaobjects > Customers, add a definition called Survey completed (custom.survey_completed), set the type to True or false, and turn on Customer Account API access.

Then create a workflow in Shopify Flow using the Grapevine Response completed trigger. Add a condition so it only runs when the response is linked to a customer (customerId greater than 0), and another so it only runs for your survey code. Finish with an Update customer metafield action that sets Survey completed to true.

For a faster setup, download the pre-built Flow template below and import it into your store. Just swap in your survey code.

To do in Growave

Before you start: the points rule needs Growave’s Growth plan or higher.

In Growave, go to Rewards > Points > Ways to earn and add a Customer metafield rule. Enter custom.survey_completed, set it to Equals True, and choose how many points to give.

Give it a name customers will see, like Complete our survey, and save. From then on, every completed survey adds points to the customer's account automatically.

How to setup this integration

Gather feedback and reward your customers in one smooth flow

How can this data be used?

Turn every member into a segment you can actually use.
When customers complete a Grapevine survey and earn Growave points, you're not just getting more responses. You're filling in the gaps on their profile, so every email, offer and reward can fit the person getting it.

Profile and Segment Insights

  • Split campaigns by skin type and skin goal instead of guessing
  • Group members by routine, from basics-only to the full works
  • Spot heavy users and slow restockers from how long products last them

Loyalty and Retention Insights

  • Send early access to members who always buy new launches
  • Time restock reminders to how often customers actually buy
  • Find which members are worth rewarding a little extra

Here’s the payoff. A dry-skin customer chasing fine lines and an oily-skin customer fighting breakouts shouldn’t get the same email. With four answers on their profiles, they won’t. See how answers flow into Klaviyo in our Klaviyo profile enrichment workflow.

Start turning feedback into loyalty

Customers are happy to tell you about themselves when there's something in it for them. Grapevine asks the right questions at the right moment, and Growave says thanks with points. You get richer profiles, they get rewarded, and nobody has to lift a finger after setup.
