Klaviyo is one of the most popular email and SMS marketing platforms for Shopify merchants, and Grapevine Surveys integrates seamlessly with it. By syncing survey responses and customer data directly into Klaviyo profiles, merchants can trigger highly targeted, automated flows based on the answers customers provide.
Reward customers with a discount for completing a survey
One of the main challenges with this kind of campaign is making it as easy as possible for customers to take part. The survey needs to be quick to access, simple to complete on any device, and clearly explain the reward upfront so customers feel motivated to finish it. Since the goal is to gather product feedback from people who have actually shopped with you before, it is also important to make sure the invite only goes to existing customers rather than your wider audience.
There is also the question of how to protect the discount so it is only available to people who complete the survey. If the code is easy to guess or share, it can quickly spread beyond your intended audience. Finally, you need to be able to connect each set of survey answers back to the individual customer. This not only ensures you know who to send the discount to, but also allows you to dig into their feedback in more detail later.
The solution starts with setting up your survey in Grapevine and sending it to past customers through Klaviyo. Klaviyo can prepopulate each customer’s details on the survey so fields like name and email are hidden, making it faster to complete and ensuring responses are linked to the right person.
When the survey is submitted, Grapevine sends the response data into Klaviyo, which triggers a follow-up email with the discount code. In Shopify, you can create a customer segment for those who have completed the survey and make the discount available only to that group, helping to keep it secure.
Create your survey and tick the standalone survey channel. This will give you a URL for your survey.
Select the option to tag all orders and customers with 'Survey Completed' when they complete the survey.

Create a discount code for the amount you want to offer customers who complete the survey and set the condition of that discount to be one user per customer and only available for those in the 'Completed Survey' customer segment.

Create an email that contains the completed survey discount on it.
Create a workflow in Klaviyo that triggers this email when a customer completes a survey. This event is fired from Grapevine into Klaviyo, docs on this are here.
Finally launch the survey by sending out a link to all customer asking for feedback linking to the survey. To remove the need for the customer to enter their details again, include a URL parameters on the link to the survey page, docs on this can be found here
